Sacramento City updates Master Plan to include annexation of Arden Arcade

The City of Sacramento has released its 2030 Master Plan, and of course Arden Arcade is included. In the section entitled "Arden Arcade Study Area," it states the following:

"The City of Sacramento is interested in possibly annexing the Arden Arcade
Study Area to consolidate public services. Currently (2008), some Arden
Arcade Study Area residents and businesses favor staying within the county or
incorporating the area as its own city to protect existing special districts, such
as fire protection, water districts, and parks. Challenges to annexation will
likely include revenue sharing issues with Sacramento County, overcoming
infrastructure issues, and public support for annexation."

If there was any lingering doubt that Sacramento sees Arden Arcade as a prime target for increasing their boundaries, this should eliminate it for good. But don't be fooled into thinking this is really about improving efficiency for public services. This is politics as usual, with politicians and bureaucrats looking to expand their power base, and greatly increase tax revenues by swallowing up the Fulton Avenue auto dealers, several shopping centers, and several thousand taxpaying families.

The real truth is that annexation will mean increased taxes (city utility taxes are already triple our rates), loss of our wonderful special districts (parks, water, and Sac Metro Fire), and stretching already limited police resources even further. Is this your vision for Arden Arcade? Let us hear from you.
